I love to read, spend time with my kids and go to the local Starbucks (inside the Barnes & Noble at Greece Ridge Mall) and write while downing coffee.
I also co-lead a creative writing "class" with award-winning humor columnist Joanne Brokaw at the Barnes and Noble in Pittsford on the third Tuesday of each month. It is called Ink Spots and Coffee Grounds.

In 1995 I sold my first short story to a Canadian publication. I was paid $.01 per word. It was an 8,000 word Western. So $80 bucks -- but, remember this was Canadian money (back when the US dollar meant something--and the exchange rate was close to 50%). I cashed in on $42. Took everyone to McDonalds to celebrate. Super Size all around!
Since, I've gone on to sell more than 70 short stories and articles, as well as five novels and two chapter books.
These sales were all secular. In 2003 I took a step back from my writing for many reasons. At one point, I was ready to never write again. But life is funny. During some seriously tough times in late 2006 I was suddenly inspired to write THE MOLECH PROPHECY.
Thomas Phillips is my newest pen name. I feel like a new man. Writing Christian suspense novels is an awesome opportunity for me to share my faith, while writing what I love--thrillers.
As I mentioned, 2006 and most of 2007 have been tough on me. I took a lot of time selecting the below music that best describes the personal and spiritual challenges I've faced, and am slowly recovering from. I am still in a "valley". No doubt. I know there is light at the end of this tunnel. I just have no idea how long this tunnel is, and I never had any idea just how dark it could be.
I grew up with a reading disability. It wasn't until 7th grade that I read my first book from cover to cover. I'll never forget that book. THE OUTSIDERS, by S.E. Hinton.
After reading that book I went on to devour novel after novel. Because I overcame this disability, and not only became an avid reader, but went on to become a well-published writer, I now speak at schools, libraries, etc., and deliver a motivational presentation to kids, young adults, and adults.

your book sounds very intriguing, I'll have to pick up a copy. My novel THE COVE has been out since the middle of June and I haven't tried to schedule a booksigning yet. I travel with my husband obsessively--so it makes it hard to plan ahead. How far in advance do they like to schedule such things? I see that you are going to be in Buffalo and Cheektowaga (I love that name!) My best friend and her husband (a pastor) live in Tonawanda, the part of Buffalo closest to the Falls. I'm going to write them to see if they can go to any of your book signings. Their son has some reading problems, too, and I wonder if your book wouldn't be good for him. He's a teen now.

Hi, Thomas! So good to hear from you! Yeah, I remember that feeling of waiting for WH to accept my next manuscript while they waited to see how Through Every Storm would do. Fortunately, it went well, and they bought my Little Hickman Creek three-book series. I'm releasing a stand-alone in September, which is the one I'll be signing in Florida. Apparently, the books will be ready and waiting in warehouses but not releasing to stores till late August. I should be getting my carton anytime now I hope. That is always such a big thrill opening that carton and getting your first glimpse of the finished product.
Hope to see you in Orlando, although I'm arriving on Monday the 14th and flying out around 6 p.m. on the 16th. My signing is Tuesday from 11-12. I don't know if you'll be around yet. I'm really hoping to get a copy of your book. It looks and sounds great. I read the first chapter. Pretty intriguing. Sounds like the kind of book Cecil (my hubby) would eat up, too.
