About three years ago, Jim Galliardt got tired of playing the songs God was giving him to his four bedroom walls. Having tons of heartfelt material, some self-taught guitar skills, and a huge hope inside to share Christ's hope with others, he finally set out to do what many try- to start a band. How it would happen and where it would go would soon prove that God blesses those who walk in faith. "It has been a long journey with many ups and downs, but a Christ-centered passion is hard to quench," says Galliardt when reflecting on Sonlit's successful trek. "It has taken tons of patience to find the right band members who are called to ministry, to make the most genuine songs, practice, and find places to play." It has been that patience and passion that has brought the band Sonlit to new heights in the independent Christian music scene.
January 2008, Sonlit opened for Curb Record's newest Christian artist called "Mikes Chair" at Youth Night in Buhler, Kansas. A month later, Sonlit released their first EP with CamaFly Records and organized 30+ requested appearances into a summer tour through Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, and Oklahoma. These opportunities allowed them to work with well known acts such as DownHere, Article One, Esterlyn, and others. In July 2008, they were also selected to perform at "Heartfest" along side David Crowder Band, Hawk Nelson, and Mercy Me in Kansas City. Missouri. Requested appearances in 2009 include working with more major label bands such as VOTA, Tenth Ave. North, Rough Draft, Dycefer Down, and others.
Drummer Aaron Yoder came up with the name "Sonlit" and it has stuck with the group's message ever since- to radiate Christ's hope and salvation message to those who are seeking true life. Through upbeat, rocky tunes and sincere worship, Sonlit brings a fun and exciting message that has been soaked up by all ages- especially teens. "Even if we are able to help change one person's life for Christ each night, all the work is worth it," says bass player Stormy John. "We want to start a revolution of people truly using music to connect their lives with God." From worship services to youth conferences, Sonlit has brought their revolution to many different venues and has bridged that connection in people's lives. "Everyday, we just trust that God has begun something big in us that He will be faithful to help complete," says Galliardt. "It is great to have a big God behind our Ministry."
