About HOI
Singer/ Songwriter Hoi is a touch of Sarah McLachlan with a kiss of soul. She is on a mission to inspire and encourage with a pure voice, heart-felt lyrics, and catchy instrumental hooks. With every song self-penned, listeners are sure to catch a glimpse of her optimistic view of life. Her message is hope and that hope is embedded in each song.

It hasn't always been easy for Hoi, who has overcome many obstacles toget to where she is today. Raised as a Buddhist, Hoi found Christ at eleven years old. She faced relentless opposition as a result of her conversion, but she never gave up on pursuing what was important to her. Her passion for music even allowed her to overcome her fight with asthma. When asthma threatened her every breath in her teenage years, she was almost forced to give up her dream of singing. "Asthma has taught me to appreciate every breath I take and it is nothing short of a miracle that I do what I do today."

Convinced (2004), the album, is a collection of songs that penetrate the heart. "I'm not into writing "fluff" that just sounds good, but lacks depth. I'm not under any pressure to be someone I'm not, and my goal is to accomplish my mission. "For Hoi, being a recording artist is not a game of fame and numbers. "Success is not how much money I make, or how many people show up at my concerts. I experience the joy of success every time someone tells me a song I wrote has impacted them in some way. When my music ceases to make an impact on lives, I am going to stop writing and singing."

The new release, God is Good (2006), is about God's goodness in times of doubt and confusion, as well as in times of joy and happiness. Hoi has certainly experienced her share of ups and downs in her life, especially in the last two years as a full-time touring artist. Regardless of her circumstances, Hoi has learned the importance of praising God at all times. She sings, "God is good all the time, all the time, God is good."

Last night, I got a call from my best friend in Texas. She's a hairdresser. She sounded exhausted, so I asked if she was okay. It was now well past 9 o'clock, and she was now on her way home. She told me that the salon closed at 7 o'clock, but th... (login or sign up to read more)

What do YOU think about this?   11/17/2007 - 10:08 PM
I just came home from visiting someone. We Asians eat things many Americans wouldn't usually eat. So anyway, my mother always taught me to eat whatever is in front of me. In my culture, this is especially important when you're a guest at someone's... (login or sign up to read more)

Because I'm CHINESE....   7/31/2007 - 4:14 PM
When people meet me for the first time, the first question they have for me is often, "WHAT are you?" To that, I love to answer, "HUMAN." :) I personally, do not like to ask people what race they are. There is only one race, and that's the human r... (login or sign up to read more)
