My name is Christie Gerschutz [Ger as in Gary--shoots], and I am a singer, songwriter, musician, and author from the Toledo, Ohio area. I write and sing mainly Christian songs, country/rock/acoustic style. The nine instruments I play are piano, trombone, violin, guitar, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, tinwhistle, voice, and drums. My FAVORITE instruments are piano and guitar. And of course voice! =]
God called me in the music ministry field when I was 15. I had a homeschool praise and worship band called SpiritFire, which is where the title of my first book came from. I have written four books so far, working on my fifth. They are:
Rekindling the SpiritFire: Reflections of an American Homeschooled Teen--A 30-chapter, 90 page devotional for teens, complete with study questions. It contains insights I wanted to pass along to my generation and the next. $10.50
Samuel the Camel and the Lone Star--The first in the "Eyes of the Stable" series. When a young camel named Samuel and his best friend, Ono, graduate from the Dromedary Academy of the East, they find the most important lesson of all is still ahead of them. They also learn that Abijah, the class bully, is the least of their fears as they are chosen from the graduates for a secret mission. Grades 3-5, although a lot of my adult friends love it too! $7.50
Ken-tah-ten: Land of Tomorrow--The first in the "Land Of" series. Emma O'Brien had always wondered what was behind the forbidden door in the cellar. Her sixteen-year-old cousin, Eric, had kept her from finding out the secret with stories of rats and trolls that lived in the room, but eight-year-old Emma's curiosity is becoming greater. Her suspicion continues to mount after the family is accused of helping runaway slaves. Emma's family then faces deadly peril when the Battle of Perryville rages near their farm in Kentucky (Ken-tah-ten in the Iroquoian language). Follow the O'Brien family as their faith is tested through the trials and tribulations of the Civil War era. Grades 5-8. $8.95
Jacob the Donkey--The second in the "Eyes of the Stable" series. When a one-year-old donkey named Jacob was given to a young carpenter as a betrothal gift, he worried about a trip he would have to make to Bethlehem. To make matters worse, he learned that he would have to carry the carpenter's wife, who was expecting her first child, all the way there. With the encouragement of his animal friends, however, he not only made the journey to Bethlehem, but also realized he had a very special role in another gift that changed the world forever. $7.95
My songs I write from the heart, about anything from bad relationships to good relationships to God's will for our lives to not knowing what that will is. I try to be real in whatever I do. The world, especially the church world, is too full of people just trying to fool other people into thinking they have it all together. I DON'T have it all together. I get scared and frustrated and sad and lonely and heartbroken just like everyone else. God loves you for who YOU are, not who everyone else wants you to be. Jesus hung out with thieves and liars and drunks and people just like us. We don't have to pretend anything with Him.

I often wonder at this life. I wonder if there is truly a meaning behind it, if there is anything to it besides birth, work, and death. I wonder, even if there were the slightest chance of my discovering the elusive meaning of life, would anyone el...

Hearing back from you today truly blessed my heart. :) And, I am rejoicing with you over all the great things that are going on your life, including of course your upcoming wedding. :)
I have been doing well. My wife Maria has had to deal with recent issues with her health (diabetes, and particularly her kidneys), but she has been doing better. Things at my job has bee going well, as the new ownership (Findlay F/L-M became Reineke F/L-M back in late July) is working out well. And, yes of course, I've been "fun busy" as always at VCF, especiall with the music team as we get ready for our Veterans Day service on Sunday morning November 8, and our Christmas music presentation on Wednesday evening December 16.
Christie, I have no doubt that you are seeing only the very beginning of far greater things that our Lord has in store for your, life, your ministry, and yoyr great-sounding music. :) May our Lord continue to bless you awesomely!
Much love from your brother in Jesus, and your friend always...Bob
Hey, Christie! So nice to make your Shoutlife acquaintance!
I've been eyeballin' that guitar of yours... That wouldn't be a Yamaha, would it? (That's what mine is, and oh what a tone it has!) Sadly, I don't play it as much as I used to when I was "on the road"...
Looking forward to getting to know you better as I learn more about your work! Meanwhile, may He bless you with a restful, fulfilling weekend!

Hi Christie! :) As I wrote you over at Facebook, you and your fiance have my heartfelt congratulations, and my prayers for an eternity of happiness. :)
May our Lord continue to bless you and Corel in ways that are far beyond anything that either of you could ever imagine!
Much love from your brother in Jesus, and your friend always...Bob
Greetings Christie, If I can be of any assistance in bringing your vision to pass, please make it known. We are all interdependent on each other and we all have something to contribute.
I am not afraid of being "used". Only useful people get used.
you are right, I also believe that god will not be looking for our meals, diplomas or degrees, but I cannot accept that he will be looking for our scars. If anything, He will be looking for His Glory, which we be in Christ. It is not us He will be seeking, but His Son in us. His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, is the Door, through which, the Father will be looking to see who is all In His Son. In him we are Healed --- no scars, no nali prints, no whip lashes, or bruises, instead, we will appear to him Spotless, and without Blemish. To be without Blemish is to be wikthout scars. Think About that. I thank you profoundly for your kind words, and friendship, and I am, truly, honoured and blessed. May the Father richly bless you and yours. Jody.
