Can My Marriage Be Saved? (2008)
True saved marriage stories. Four of the profiles from couples I interviewed will be featured in this engaging collection of memories from couples who went to the brink of divorce and beyond--and shows how they came back from the edge. The stories are very real and filled with hurt, anger, suspense, drama, and even humor. If you've ever had marital problems, you will see yourself in one or more of these couples...and find hope that you're not alone and that your marriage is not beyond redemption.

I'm thinking that God's timing is perfect, and I'm amazed to see how He's brought goodness from even horrible things.

About Lisa Holloway
I'm a big believer that God works through damaged people, and hope to communicate that in my writing. After three wonderfully busy years at home with my little boy (full-time momming and part-time writing), I've been steered into the world of "work." I'm currently a staff copy editor with Inspiration Networks, with projects running the gamut from straight proofreading and editing to ghostwriting to newsletters and ad copy.

In my "past life" I've been a decorated sailor, participant observer for South Asian research, and worked behind the scenes in DC for international humanitarian assistance during disasters such as the tsunami. I have met and/or provided security for three Presidents and one VP. My husband and I just finished building a home in South Carolina to house our boys, dogs, and the abundance of family members passing through from time to time.

In terms of my personal writing, I don't have a primary genre--thus the "Other" listing. A handful of profiles I wrote appear in the new book Can My Marriage Be Saved?" and a couple of booklets ("Homeschooling for Beginners" and "The Colic Dilemma") through the 10 Minute Manual series. A literary piece of mine appears in Haruah magazine: http://www.haruah.com/item.php?sub_id=3288, as well as a short adventure story that will someday appear in a Faithwriters anthology "Dharamsala Train".

I am professionally trained in direct response copywriting and Chicago style editing. Beyond that I have many years of hands-on experience in crafting corporate communications, queries/proposals, graduate-level academic writing, and editing and coauthoring government publications. I am also a personal historian. I enjoy writing Christian commentary and parenting/family articles and, like most writers (I suspect), have my Novel in works.

Come by and visit my site: www.NewHorizonWriting.net (under construction) or stop by my FaithWriters page if you'd like to browse through a few Christian short stories. God bless you all and good luck in your ventures!

Filled with Fury   11/18/2009 - 10:58 PM
Excerpted from Beth Moore's Voices of the Faithful devotional... "The devil is mean. To doubt that is a serious mistake. He plays hardball. He plays curveball. He plays anything but fair. And, most of all, he hopes to play you. The kind of Christi... (login or sign up to read more)

Are demons real?   11/15/2009 - 7:26 PM
The Bible speaks of demons as a reality, but in our modern, "enlightened" society we tend to treat the topic of demons and a devil as laughable or not worth giving thought to. Yet at least three people I know well claimed to have seen demons befo... (login or sign up to read more)

To Save a Life   11/13/2009 - 9:43 PM
"To Save a Life" is geared toward teens, but it's one of the best movies I've seen in a while--very honest and real. It's well made, good acting and filming, and it has a good soundtrack...definitely not a B flick. There are light bulb moments for ev... (login or sign up to read more)

Political Neophyte Takes Down Dynasty   10/20/2009 - 9:28 PM
A friend shared this with me, and it seems to be dead-on... Dr. Krauthammer is on Fox News. He is an M.D. and a lawyer and is paralyzed from the neck down. A friend went to hear Charles Krauthammer. He listened with 25 others in a closed room. Wh... (login or sign up to read more)

Wealth Redistribution & Socialism Quote   10/20/2009 - 8:26 AM
"The drawback to socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." I can't remember who said it, but it stuck in my mind. (login or sign up to read more)

Hey, did you catch the number of times Obama got PWND in the pilot episode for the new V series? I nearly fell on the floor laughing. Also, guess what song they had for the TV promo: "Uprising" by Muse. Coincidence? ;)

Hi, Lisa!

Writing is going slowly. I've never had to fight with a book so much! I'm going to be so proud when it's done, though!

Blessings,

Exactly! You raise interesting thoughts. Some Bible students think the revived Roman Empire will be from a 10 state confederation, or the EU. They also feel the Anti-Christ will emerge from that area. This seems quite possible.
Robert Greyeagle on 9/30/09 - 10:15 PM
I understood what you wrote in your other comment. You made the connection quite well, I thought.
Robert Greyeagle on 9/30/09 - 10:14 PM
It does sound familiar to me, Lisa. Alexander the Great and his friends were great warriors because they were raised from early age in the arts of war. Every point in your comment is true! Mind control is nothing new and used by those who seek power and keep it. North Korea is a case in point. North Korean kids are indoctrinated to view their fat little leader as "Beloved Leader" even while many there starve.

LOL! Yep!!! DO NOT drag your desk out!!!!

And tonight here we could get frost!! Brrr!
Brian :) on 9/30/09 - 10:05 PM
Ok. I hear you on the weather, except it's getting cold here.
I work outdoors so I get plenty of it either way.
Can't you drag your desk outside?
Brian :) on 9/30/09 - 9:44 PM
Hi Lisa!!!
It's been forever since I stopped by, I hope you're doing well.
I spend most of my time on Facebook nowadays, do you have a page there?
Lisa Buffaloe on 9/30/09 - 8:34 PM
Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog, and thank you so much for your prayers.

Blessings and a big cyber-hug!

Being a recluse and living alone, I don't have to cater to anyone but God. So, gettin' lazy now and then is a luxury I really like sometimes. Usually, I'm knee deep in some research project. Not real pleased with Obama's school kids indoctrination program. Shades of mind control. I can see where it's going.
Robert Greyeagle on 9/29/09 - 9:11 PM
Busy is good, Lisa! Means you are productive. So sorry to learn about the loss of your pet. I haven't been up to much lately except doing some light research. Been kinda lazy, actually.
Robert Greyeagle on 9/23/09 - 1:43 AM
O-si-yo, Lisa! Was thinking of you today considering all the rain in that general area. Hope it has not caused you problems. Walk in peace, my friend.

WOOT! Go Muse!

Hello Lisa, it's great to get to know you. Thanks for stopping by my page. I'm also a firm believer that God works through damaged people, having been there myself. Such an excellent message to share! Great to see someone else active in many aspects of writing. I look forward to knowing you better.
Carlynn on 9/08/09 - 8:21 AM
Hey Lisa! yes it is strange to find someone on here who is a neighbor :) -- but i esp like to welcome transplanted ppl b/c otherwise navigating RH can get a little crazy sometimes. The only thing you have to remember about the streets: Celanese, Cherry, Anderson and Dave Lyle are all parallel to each other. all are intersected by Ebeneezer and Mt. Gallant. if ya know that, you've got the driving covered :)
The Quiet Garden movement...its mostly an Episcopal or Methodist thing and ties in with stewardship of creation. ie taking care of what God created b4 He created ppl.
It is a garden/meditation area outside, where you can sit and pray/reflect/meditate, etc. if you get a chance, go by St. Matthias on HOllis Lakes Rd (off Ebeneezer)and see their habitat....there are benches where you can relax and just BE STILL in this hurried world. we built it b/c its close to the hospital and we wanted to give caretakers a chance to get away to eat lunch and just relax. still a work in progress, esp with the soil we have down here, but coming along nicely.
Also, if you ever need info on doggie boarding or whatnot, i know the best places!
oh, btw, you can google the Quiet Garden movment and will pop us with some awesome places of quiet and meditation...really cool!
take care and GB your week....carlynn
ps there are many here who homeschool, so you wont be alone in that - think there's even a support group for it - either at Westminster Presbyterian or the big Baptist chruch, can't remember.
Carlynn on 9/07/09 - 1:03 PM
Hi Lisa, wow we live really close by!! hey if you ever need boarding/playcare/vet care or other doggie/critter info, i'm the one who's full of it (lol, 'it' being the knowledge of all things critter here in York County) i love dogs too (even tho they're costing me a fortune but have great vets) and WOW we have a lot in common. i was married to the military, had a friend who guarded Clinton when he came to Hawaii, yadayada, got lots to talk about gal! so give me a shout - i sent you a friend invite and would love to welcome you to the neighborhood. it's a nice place to live - and wow, how bout this cool weather we're having?! this time last year was high-90s to 103, so i'm loving this 80+ stuff :)
ttysoon i hope, would love to chat more about your work, and ?if you ever need hired help (i'm a writer of 15+ yrs...) so, WELCOME to you and your family - so nice to meet someone on SL who lives nearby! ....carlynn
