General Interests
I'm all over the place as far as interests go. I love a walk on the beach, preferably at the tip of Long Island, in the Florida Keys, or on a California Beach. A good restaurant can't be beat! I'm fond of driving in a rain or snow storm. Luv, absolutely go bonkers over animals.

My Role Models Are: Margaret Daley, Janet Tronstad, The senior Bush women (Laura and Barbara). I aspire to be like these stellar women when I grow up.

I mostly read Christian romantic/suspence fiction, but do read a few powerful secular authors who write thrillers. I also read cook books. Oh did I mention, I'm a foodie...

I've been an animal rescuer, having rescued about 50 dogs and cats, a bird and a few squirrels. I'm also a wild bird and squirrel feeder.

About Nike Chillemi
I'm thrilled to be writing crime fiction, even though as yet, I'm unpublished. My work falls into the Christian suspense, romantic suspense, police procedural, and historical romantic suspense genres. I present often crusty Christian and ornery nonbelieving characters as they deal with life and death in a largely non-Christian urban setting.

I love crime fiction where the bad guys are really, really bad; but the good guys are smarter and better!!!

I'm super grateful to Cheryl Wyatt, whot told me to go for it...to Julia Allen for her critique of my work...to the wonderful authors at Steeple Hill who continue to encourage me...and to the members of my ACFW critique group.

I'm a SAHM, married for twenty three years to a great guy, truly! I live with my husband Joseph and daughters Alyssa (12) and Delayne (11). Both girls have pages here at ShoutLife.

My husband, a supervising social worker in a drug treatment program at one of Brooklyn's busiest city hospitals, offers a wealth of information for my writing. He's the "go to guy" on drug addiction, alcoholism, and how manic city hospital emergency rooms run, as well tidbits about "street life" he's learned from his clients.

Our home is in coastal Brooklyn (NYC) which is also the setting for my contemporary crime fiction novels. We live very near to, but not on, the Atlantic Ocean.

I usually don't write movie reviews, and I'm not even sure this is a review ... but if you want to laugh and feel alive go see Meryl Streep as Julia Child in Julie and Julia, now playing in theatres. The Julia scenes simply sizzle. Well, what di... (login or sign up to read more)

Ted Dekker's   6/29/2009 - 9:27 AM
Where have I been? I can't believe this is the first Ted Dekker book I've read. It certainly won't be the last. This supernatural horror story doesn't read like a Christian novel. Sure, it explores themes of good and evil by following the life sto... (login or sign up to read more)

Cheryl Wyatt A Krazy Kinda Gal   5/20/2009 - 8:58 AM
Anyone who knows Steeple Hill author Cheryl Wyatt will tell you she's is a laugh a minute. And a lot of that comes out in her writing. How's that you might ask? She writes about God and military parachute jumpers. Yep, she does, but she also writ... (login or sign up to read more)

I purchased curriculum this time - Horizons Math, Learning Language Arts through Literature, Christian Kids Explore Science, the Diana Waring History Alive program, a PE program for homeschoolers, a drawing program from Lifepac featuring Thomas Kinkaid, and a Home Ec program for young girls by Pearables that looks excellent. We already bought a Spanish program similar to Rosetta Stone which I'd planned to use and which we'll now use as a family. So we have a full schedule planned. The kids are advanced in most of their work. I pretested them in math and at least as far as this curriculum goes, Glory tested a year behind (of course, according to Colorado standards on the CSAP, she's advanced in math, so it may just be a very difficult program, or Colorado may be very lazy in their requirements), so we're doing the 4th grade math book with her. But they're all doing the same science and history program, which is geared for 3rd - 6th grades, and Sarah is only a second grader. I have every confidence in her. And looking at the language arts program, they'll probably be bored.

I'll pray for you, pray for me. We'll make it through this and have happy memories, and one day we'll laugh about how crazy it could get just trying to get it all done.

Hang in there!

So, guess what? Since we're moving away from the girls' school, and since I'm craving to teach so badly, and the girls, particularly Glory, had been asking about home school, guess who else is going to start home schooling again? I've already bought the curriculum - we start November 2nd!

Hey, there! Missing you! We're going nuts with moving this week - not the big one yet, we're moving to a smaller apartment in town, but it's still nuts! I still have those books for you, if you let me know where to send them :) . You have a wonderful day, and I'll talk to you later! Julie

Nike, It was amazing watching his excitement. He loves the clouds, the birds, the trees. Seeing God's creation through his eyes makes for an incredible afternoon. He jumps up and down pointing and laughing with joy. It brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for asking.
