I love everything imaginable about the beauty industry,
I am a professional Cosmetologist/Make-Up Artist and I have a passion for helping others look and feel better about themselves.
I had the opportunity last year to go on my first out of state outreach trip and I went with nine other Christians to Louisiana to minister to the victims of the Hurricane Katrina and Rita.
The missions group is called CONVOY OF HOPE,
which purpose is to reach out to individuals and families who have experienced disasters,
lost their homes and are in need of help.
For one week,
the outreach group that I was with participated in volunteer work of painting houses,
construction work,
organizing and bagging non-parishable food for the food drive and participating in a prayer walk in Louisiana.
On my final day,
Convoy of Hope had a big event for the community.
Convoy of Hope provided children's games,
prizes,
clowns,
live Christian music,
free food,
free groceries,
free haircuts,
free medical screenings and the opportunity to receive prayer from a ministry team.
As a Licensed Cosmetologist,
I volunteered to provide free haircuts.
It was a memorable and wonderful experience that I am honored to have been a part of to reach out and touch the lives of others in a positive way.

Dana Arcuri resides in Pittsburgh, PA with her loving husband of 20 years, her three wonderful children who are 10, 13 and 17 years old, an affectionate yellow lab named Samson and a spunky stray cat named Sabrina. Growing up as the youngest of five girls, Dana started developing her love for writing when she was 11 years old. Over one year ago, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, four bulging discs and sub-clinical hypothyroidism. After struggling one year going from doctor to doctor, getting poked and prodded, not getting to the root of my health conditions, I have taken a step back to take a good hard look at my diet and lifestyle. What I have discovered is that the foods and beverages that we eat and drink, as well as the chemicals and cleaning products that we use in our home can literally destroy our health.
The meats, fruits, vegetables, dairy products and foods that we eat and drink are injected with steroids, antibiotics or sprayed with pesticides. The consequence of actively partaking in the above ingredients promotes a wide scale of medical conditions that wreck havoc on our bodies.
In addition, the cosmetic and personal care products that we may use on a daily basis are no longer considered safe, due to being filled with carcinogenic ingredients and lead. As a female, I am extremely concerned with the astronomical cases of breast cancer in the USA. As a Licensed Cosmetologist and Makeup Artist, I am outraged that beauty has become fatal. Looking good should NOT be dangerous and should NOT harm our health! We should be able to use our deodorant WITHOUT wondering what is lurking inside that may cause potential side effects.

Hi, Dana! Congratulations on both of your freelance positions...sounds like both should be enjoyable for you. WAY TO GO!! :)
My younger two start school on Wednesday. My oldest will be starting college in September, but he will be doing his studies online...so he is also currently looking for some work. He's going to study to be a pharmacy tech, and already has been told by a local pharmacist that he will hire him a couple months into his schooling, once he has some of the basics down. So that's cool.
I'm not on facebook..not yet..but everyone keeps asking...so I may start one one of these days. lol
