Too many to list! I've been brought up on songs from the 50's onwards, so there's a little bit of everything in there.

Tricky one this. Over the years my music has been likened to Buddy Holly, The Pet Shop Boys, Dave Edmunds, Wizzard.....the list goes on.

Review:
Despite the age of some of these songs, Geoff has the happy knack of making them sound just as fresh as the day they were in the charts. NFN, UK
Always & Forever (2000)
A 4 track CD showcasing Geoff's creative writing and intrumental talent.

Track listing

Always & Forver
My Love
I Love You
The Postivie Sign (Howlett/Jefferson)

Reviews:
"I like this collection as a whole, and the variety works but I have to say that Geoff's forte is definitely in the 60s retro material. His voice is perfect for it, his original songs just seem to slide into it, and the way he uses modern sounds to recreate it is great". NFN, UK
Fear No Evil (1998)
A full solo debut recorded at Hull's Eastside Studio. 12 songs of hope, love, promise, truth, and personal testimony.
Track listing - all written by Geoff Howlett unless otherwise stated.

The Son Rises (Allen & Howlett)
Girl in the Moon (Howlett & Jefferson)

Get On Down

Reviews
"this debut album brings out what a truly talented songwriter Geoff is". Cutting Edge, USA.

"Geoff writes songs with catchy choruses seperated by verses that do far more than simply fill the spaces: they tunefully explain the words that you'll go round singing for ages after first hearing them". NFN, UK

"Geoff's brand of songwriting is to be applauded because he has a knack for pithy phrases and the sort of non religious language that communicates moral and spiritual truth in a non preachy fashion". Crossrhythms, UK

"Geoff deserves to meet a producer who can take these ideas and mould them into mainstream chart tracks". Gig Central, UK

"Girl in the Moon" and "Hot Tears" won Merit Awards in the 2000 & 2001 Unisong International Song Contest.
95 Foot Wave (1996)
By the middle of the year 95 Foot Wave was just a name for me to use, following the demise of the band. Writing with Steve Jefferson I produced two new songs.

Girl in the Moon
Don't Leave Me Standing
Ebony Blood And Snow (1996)
By this time, I had formed the band 95 Foot Wave, and I co-wrote an entry for the Eurovision Song contest. It didn't win the UK heat, but we did get national exposure on the BBC radio network.

Track Listing

Ebony Blood and Snow (Howlett/Jefferson)
No Deal (1994)
With a settled line up and a real live drummer to replace the machine, we recorded a four track cassette at Hull's Small and Hairy Studio.

Track Listing
The Big One (Howlett)
Safe & Dangerous (Allen)
I Will Not Fall (Howlett)
Sorry I'm Leaving (Howlett)

Crossrhythms magazine wrote that the songs had "good hooks, meaty and raw guitar sounds, and Geoff is an engaing singer".
Heaven in Hull (1993)
By this time, I was in the pop/rock band Giants Will Fall. Two of our first songs were inlcuded on this compilation cassette.

Our songs:
I'm Only Human (Howlett)
Oxygen (Allen)
Cross the Divide (1992)
Still as the Dark Horses, we produced a six song cassette of which Crossrhythms madgazine said "Dark Horses make enough moves on this offering to leave you wondering what they would be like if they were produced by a major label".

Better Than Rock n' Roll (Allen)
The Denial (Allen)

About Geoff Howlett
I've been writing and playing Christian music for twenty years. Originally one half of the duo The Gift, I then went on to form The Dark Horses in 1990. A couple of years on, we merged with another band called Whitegold and became Giants Will Fall. We played pop/rock music all over the UK, including festivals such as Crossfire. After Giants disbanded, I formed a new outfit called 95 Foot Wave. Again, we played many venues in the UK and toured with a multimedia presentation called Open Your Eyes. Since 1996 I have been performing as a solo artist in two guises. One, as a Christian singer, the other as a 60's Tribute artist. The latter also gives me chance to include some of my own Christian songs along the way.
I also publish a monthly Christian Music Newsletter called Never For Nothing, which has been running since 1990, and present a weekly CCM spot on BBC Radio Humberside each Sunday morning.

I play my first concert in a little while on July 19th. I've been practising real hard but my fingers just don't seem to want to work properly when I play my guitar. Guess I'm not as young as I used to be, but I would value your prayers over the next... (login or sign up to read more)

Hi All Can anyone help me? Suddenly, I'm not able to play anybody's songs here on Shout Life. I use Mozilla Firefox as a web browser, but can't find any particular settings that have been altered. Geoff (login or sign up to read more)

Mother passed away   10/04/2007 - 6:14 AM
Hi All Well, she may have been 93 and very frail but she was still my mum. Sadly, she passed away on Tuesday 2nd October in hospital. Since then I've been on auto pilot, organising the funeral, and all the other things you have to do. Wouldn't have ... (login or sign up to read more)
