A New Promise (2007)
The story of a family in crisis, A New Promise tells the story of the Parnell family's struggles to survive the devastation of a wife and mother's affliction with Huntington's disease. About Julie Eller
I'm a wife, mother, grandma and author who recently relocated from Seattle to the Nashville area. Having spent my life thus far in Washington State, from farm girl to city girl, I'm transitioning back to rural life and am loving it! I hadn't realized how stressful my life had become until my husband's corporate relocation led us to the rolling hills of middle Tennessee.

There's something about hayfields, corn fields, wheat fields and grazing cattle that speaks to a country girl's heart, especially a country girl who writes stories about rural living. The Lord has answered a need in both our hearts (self and hubby) and has led us to a place where we can slow down a bit and remember some of the simple pleasures in life--the aroma of a freshly-mown alfalfa field....the sound of a train whistle splitting the night air rather than emergency sirens....

Besides working as a medical transcriptionist, I'm trained as a chemical dependency counselor, and as a phlebotomist (the person who comes at you with a needle and a smile in the lab). I discovered, following my counseling internship, that my own experiences with addiction in my husband and child were too close to allow me to counsel others effectively, and have come to realize that the Lord allowed this experience in my life in order to help groom me for the ministry He's led me to.

You can visit my website, www.Julieeller.com, to read more about my experiences with codependency, faith, and what I've learned about recovery in general.

And finally, I've been writing "seriously" for about nine years. My first book, "A New Promise" released 9/11/07. The Lord has just been soooo good to me, and has opened all the right doors in His perfect timing. I'm so excited to see what He has in store for the future.

Hi Julie, thanks for your comment the other day. I do understand homesickness and I never adjust to it, that is why I keep going back every year for at least 5 months, I have to be with my family and friends. I am not working on a book right now, although I have sent in my 4th manucript to Tate and I am waiting for the editing job on my 3rd book which will be published in Holland in 2010! I have not had any inspiration for a long time and I guess that is part of the writing business, you go through these horrible periods of discouragement and depression and emptiness and then suddenly a thousand ideas happen at the same time. I am certainly not giving up, never! I hope you will settle down a bit and be able to see the beauty around you and be inspired by the blessings in your life. You have a great talent and it should not go to waste!
Love, marja

What an adorable pic. I don't hang out here much either. Too many other places to be, too many things to do. I think of you often too, and hope things are well in your world. Please send your new snail mail in time to do my C-mas list. Check out my webpage if you don't have my email to send it to.

Talk to you soon.

Hi Julie,

Great to hear from you! Yes, our house deal fell through. We keep praying and hoping the Lord will open that door soon. While we wait, He is taking great care of us.

How are you? Any updates?

Sending love, blessings, and a BIG cyber-hug!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I'll pray for her as well as your family. You are definitely going through a long refiner's fire.

Lifting you up to our strong, tender Heavenly Father's arms.

Love and gentle hugs,
Lisa

Hi Julie - Boy do I understand. Would love to get to know you better to. Getting on and off is sporadic for me, but I do check periodically. You have a great day!

Hi Julie, I answered on my blog site but wanted to answer on your page too.

I've been thinking about you and praying for you. I'm so sorry your having to go the short sale route. Ouch. A friend prayed for us that God would rebuke the devourer and restore what the locust had eaten. I'm praying the same for you.

We did get a contract last night. Praise the Lord! We'll lose money but at least we can get on with life in Idaho. Our buyers are closing on a house in CO on the 6th then closing on ours on the 9th. We are praying everything goes smoothly.

I will keep you in my prayers, sweet friend. I know you are sooooo ready to move ahead in your life.

Sending gentle hugs to you and lots of prayers up for your situation.

Hey sister!!! Things are great! Found a house...moving in... in 30 days! I am praising God...funny how God works...I was just praying for you last night! and got your comment this morning! Things are well though...doing alot of talking with God...wondering which direction He's taking me and what He has planned next. How are things with you???? Praying God's peace is abundant in your spirit. One thing I've learned...every circumstance in life is an opportunity to draw closer to Him and go to the foot of the Cross.
Love ya sister! Great big hugs!!!

Hi Julie,

Sooo good to hear from you. I'm so sorry about all the trouble you've been through with your house and the sites. Goodness, you're getting picked on big time. God has good plans for you or all this wouldn't be allowed.

Hang in there too, my sweet friend. I'm praying for you!!

Hugs and BIG blessings,
Lisa

Hi sister! I feel the same...terrible for not keeping in better touch! Things are well...sold the house (at a huge loss of course-everyone in this market thinkgs EVERY house is a foreclosure) ...moving truck shows up Sept.14. So, praise God! We do truly feel blessed and God always takes care of us. So we have no worries. He's in control. Things have been REALLY busy...I'm packing everything myself...along with homeschooling the boys...so we've been BUSY! But TRULY BLESSED! I'll try and keep you up to date...I know we'll always catch up eventually. Know that you've been in my heart and prayers constantly!!!!
Love to you!!!
Cherie

1 John 4:4
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Let God's peace be still within you my sister for He knows your heart amen.

I love you Julie and I am praying with you my sister in Christ. Big Tender Hugs.
