10:45 PM is now friends with Michael Cooper
General Interests
Most important is to know my Lord Jesus better and to follow God's leading in my life. To understand and apply Scripture. Reading, genealogy, music, church, health and nutrition, international things, other languages and cultures, nature, traveling, "researching" stuff that interests me, talking with friends, tutoring and sharing stuff. I have a growing interest in writing since I came to Shoutlife.
Music

I have an eclectic taste in musical styles. A lot depends on what my mood is at the time. But I mainly listen to Contmporary Christian music. Tops for me are Keith Green, Michael Card, Twila Paris, Rich Mullins, Wayne Watson. Also Bryan Duncan, Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, Selah, Wes King, Chris Rice, Ceili Rain, Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Margaret Becker, Gaither Vocal Band, Clay Crosse, Christine Dente, Jars of Clay, Nicole C. Mullen, Fernando Ortega, and lots of others. I find that God really speaks to me through "inspired" music in a way that just words don't. So I am more interested in the lyrics of a song than in the sound, although my favorite music usually appeals to me in both lyrics and sound. I really love songs that are full of praise and worship, songs that exalt Jesus and God the Father. I like classical stuff like Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovski, Debussy. Still enjoy classic rock and other stuff from the 60's and 70's.
Books
Of course, the Bible. JRR Tolkien, C. S. Lewis,Peretti, Josh McDowell, Max Lucado, Dickens, Mark Twain, Jane Austen.
Recently read and recommend these books: Flashpoint: Book One of the Underground by Frank Creed; Light at the Edge of Darkness (anthology of Spec Fic short stories, ed. by Cynthia MacKinnon), Never Ceese by Sue Dent, The Legend of the Firefish, The Hands that Bears the Sword, Donita K. Paul's Dragonkeeper books, Marylu Tyndall's series The Redemption, The Reliance, The Restitution
.

.
Movies/TV
Usually I want "escape" when I watch a movie, comedies and animated stuff, musicals. My favorite movie is really three, the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is close behind. Loved Lion King, Toy Story, Fantasia (Disney's), Monsters Inc. Pride and Prejudice, Spiderman, Shrek 1 and 2, Nemo, Princess Bride, Sense and Sensibility, most Batman, all Indiana Jones, Sound of Music, West Side Story, Oliver, My Fair Lady, Braveheart, Fiddler on the Roof, Funny Girl, The Wizard of Oz, Snow White, Black Stallion, Tarzan, George of the Jungle, Miracle on 34th St. The Passion, The End of the Spear. Lots of others, but these are just what come to mind right now. As far as TV, I especially like Stargate SG-1 and Monk. Always enjoy Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke, Home Improvement, Bill Cosby.

About Me
I had a standard "About Me" that disappeared with one of the gremlins a few months ago. Since then I have been "undefined."

I've been on Shoutlife for almost two years now, and it has been a lifeline for me. Being somewhat handicapped (though, thankfully, I can still get around some), the computer has become my main way to keep in touch with the world. Shoutlife has been more than the world for me--it has been a spiritual family that God has used in many wonderful ways.

I used to teach French, Spanish, English, and English as a Second Language until I had to leave on disability. I won't go into all that now, but the disabilities have really made me learn to appreciate every little thing so much more than I ever did before. And they have taught me a lot about God's providence. He never fails.

Now I have started reviewing book on a blog as well as here, and I do copy editing. God gave me some incredible connections that started right here at Shoutlife.

Observations on Grief   11/05/2009 - 12:46 PM
A major theme in Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove is how people deal with grief. The fact is, in spite of the steps of grieving outlined by psychologists, the individual reactions and timelines for this process are as varied an... (login or sign up to read more)

Thx. It seems we may be able to stay. Apparently they were doing some type of repairs to the auditorium. I'm not even sure of what happened. I'm getting this from a prayer chain. I'll find out in church next Sunday.

But we'll be able to use the auditorium next week. Hope we can stay after that. Keep us in prayer please.

My church is called Journey Church Brooklyn. We meet in a public school. We've just lost our location. The pastor has another school as an emergency location for this Sunday, but that school isn't in such good repair. He's asking for prayer to find a suitable location that will be available every Sunday. Pls pray.

Cathy, this was sent through the ACFW Loop, regarding a young woman named Maggie...please pray...

My daughter Maggie is a freshman at Gannon University in Erie. We got a call from the hospital at 2:00 am that she had a seizure and was admitted. They did a cat scan and found a 4 cm lesion on the top of her brain. Kathy and I drove to Erie this morning and made arrangements to have Maggie transported by ambulance to Allegheny General in Pittsburgh. The neurosurgeon in Pgh said he "thinks" the lump looks benign but he will not be certain until they do an MRI.
They are putting her on the surgical schedule for tomorrow to have it removed. We're waiting to hear back on what time.
Kathy and I have been up since 2:00 am, driven several hundred miles and been through two hospitals today. We are exhausted

Hi there! Hope your day is glowing with the Sonshine of God's promises. May God's intentions be realized in your life today and every day here after.

heart Pictures, Images and Photos

God has made clear His purpose and goal for your life. Because He wants each of His children to understand and accept that His plan is to bring them into the full likeness of Jesus. He wants them to comprehend that He forgives their sins and wraps them in rich robes of righteousness. He wants them to practice being holy as He is holy. Holiness is not a thing beyond your reach it is a commitment to live exclusively for God, His glory, and His kingdom just as Jesus did. Depending not on your intellect, earthly clout, and charismatic charm; But upon God's promises and His Holy Spirit to accomplish the things God has called you to do. He wants you to practice being as Jesus is. He knows you will stumble and maybe often. But He knows above all your stumbling that He intends to bring His people into the fullness of all His promises. Courageously step into the river of God's Spirit, drinking deeply as you go; allowing rivers of living water to flow out of your heart. See John 7:38 So that the world around you is touch, lives changed and multitudes swept into the Kingdom of our God. This was not unique to the early church and the Apostles. This is YOUR assignment. God intends to bring you into the abundant life that He has always promised to His people. And at the same time use you as the vessel through which He changes the lives of others.

Sending love and big encouraging hugs your way!
