I like chick flicks and mysteries. My sons and I watch The Office. It's good for a cleansing laugh. Not a whole lot on the Tube these days that I like enough to mention.

I cannot remember a time when I wasn't driven to write. I attribute this passion to a creative God and to parents who love books and more particularly to a dad who majored in English and passed on a passion for writing. My adult daughter has this gift for writing, too. It's like a deep, calm corner in our family gene pool. Cool, that.
I was born in San Diego, California, attended Point Loma College in San Diego and in 1980, married a really cool guy named Bob. We have four great kids who are terrific fun to be around. Bob's a pastor and a chaplain in the Air Force Reserves. We've just moved back to southern California after sojourning around the globe the last 20 years.
I love fiction. It settles me, inspires me, moves me and entertains me.
I've been a newspaper editor and columnist but storytelling suits me like nothing else has. I love writing novels. Love it, love it.

Okay, I confess. I am an Office fan. A devotee. I plan my Thursdays so that I am home by 9 p.m. and I have the previous seasons on DVD so I can watch the older episodes if I get a hankering. My family is addicted, too.
Sometimes the show makes me...
