TJ's Treasures is a group of online stores located in beautiful Southern Illinois. My lovely wife and help meet Terri is the owner/sole proprietor and I do the graphics and marketing. When God brought Terri to me I had already been through two failed marriages and Terri had endured a very brutal abusive marriage herself. We were two wounded warriors experiencing God's Grace,forgiveness and healing. Unconditional Love at first sight! T.J. and I were married in Feb of 1994, we had no room for anything at all. Our combined family of eight was wedged into a two-bedroom home of only eight hundred square feet; if you stretched the tape. The kids' bedroom housed two set of bunk beds and two mattresses that fit snugly under the bunks, perfect accommodations for the two of our children that came to live with us on weekends. The master suite consisted of a twin bed on a Hollywood frame a dresser with a large mirror covering the entire wall to prevent Closter phobia. We opened the door to the closet on cold evenings to try and create a mood. The fire in the furnace flickered, giving an ambiance of romance as we pretended that we were alone in a cabin in the mountains by a big fireplace, dreaming of future plans.God had brought us together and we trusted in Him to provide for all of our needs. As fate would have it, the beautiful house that Terri had wanted for eight years became available and we were able to snatch it up the very day it was put on the market. The huge house needed a lot of TLC. We were able to completely renovate the house, and turned it into our new home!
"My wife Terri and I started in business in 1994 with Crafts for Christ, a small woodcraft hobby that attended craft shows. We decided to give up the hobby because of the tornado that destroyed our building in 1996 . Everything inside was pretty well destroyed with the exception of a Jesus plaque that Terri cut out when we first met. I remember people telling us the news headlines saying"Tornado Rips Through Salem-Jesus Still Standing!" Of course we were devastated, and our faith was challenged once again.
With much prayer and consideration, TJ's Treasures was formed in 2003. We decided to go in a different direction with the business. With the growth of the internet, and Terri's desire to be a stay at home mom/grandma, we plunged head first into the e commerce world and have not looked back!
Shopping trends have fluctuated so much in those few years. With the gasoline prices constantly increasing, and the desire of the consumer to avoid crowds, people have changed the way they shop. We are a society that is on the go. We have also changed our stores to meet those needs.Our dedication will always remain with the loyal customer base that we have established in the last ten years. We believe these diverse specialty boutiques reflect that loyalty and our desire to remain a family friendly, Christian based business, and Your link to the world of E commerce!"
