king it (2009)
This didn't start out as a recording project, but a journal of thoughts and reflections on the story of David. In July of 2001 I read a book entitled "David: A Man of Passion & Destiny" by Charles R. Swindoll.
As I read through the life of David I was constantly putting pen to paper to capture my feelings. My creativity was overflowing. I couldn't write quickly enough so that I could get back to reading again.
The words from this project were written out of the personal joy I experienced having been swept up in this man's life, and seeing God's hand on it. They were not intended to be compositions.
"Yes Indeed" was released July 7. It features Ron Kerber on woodwinds and "... the way". It's a collection of eleven songs that were written for worship over the past few years. Some of these songs have become favorites at my home church. "the way" are a group of musicians that lift up the Lord every week. Their gifts are on display throughout the CD and I'm blessed to be able to call them friends and brothers/sisters.
The CD took a long time to come to fruition. Recording took place over the past two years and was at times frustrating, but in the end the project is a strong statement of faith.
This project was inspired by the Christmas story. It was conceived in December of '00 through my daily devotional time. The writting took place over an eight month period between December of '00 and July 0f '01. I didn't begin recording until April of '07 and finished in October of that year. It was released in December of '07.
Thanks to those who lent their spirit to this project. To my band fpr their fellowship and support. To my family for their love. To my God for His gift.
Soul du Jour (2000)
Released in 2000, this was my first project that was not considered a secular one. It came at a time when I had made a prayerful decision to use my gifts to further His kingdom. It was written and recorded in a state of joy. It seems to me now that the whole compositon and production process was an act of acceptance on my part. An opening up to the spirit. An embracing of my Father in heaven.
In prayer the liner card read "Lord, thanks for the words and notes, ... thanks for Daunti, Debo and the Weasel for inspiration, ... and thanks to Mom and Pop for living in the light."
This project is currently out-of-print but is available through electronic download.

Chapter Four

I'm finishing up a chapter of my life. Actually it might read like more of a short story. It's probably the fourth of my adult life. But none the less it's coming to a close. The ministry I've loved so dearly for the past ten years is over for me. I'...
